Asian teams have the wind in their sails in this beginning of the World Cup which takes place on their continent.
After Saudi Arabia who surprised Argentina 2-1, it is the turn of Japan to take the measures of Germany in the first match of group E at the Kalifa International Stadium in Al Rayyan.
Everything started well for Hanson Flick’s men who took the lead thanks to the Manchester City midfielder, Ilkay Gundogan who scored on penalty (33rd minute). The first act ended on this score in favor of the Germans.
In the second half the Japanese were able to find the necessary resources to first collect the score.
In the 72nd minute, the great German goalkeeper of Bayern, Manuel Neuer, came out to clear a goal from Endo that would have equalized for his team. But it was without counting on this Japanese fulgurance in the 75th minute of play. Neuer, who pushed away Minamino’s shot, could not prevent Doan’s burst. And that was the 1-1 equalization.
And in the 83rd minute, Asano went to the back of the German defense and found the breakthrough for a second time. From a difficult angle, the blue samurai striker beat Manuel Neuer and it was the delirium at the Kalifa International Stadium of Al Rayyan.
Despite 7 minutes of extra time, Germany could not come back to the score and complicates the task in a group where it must face Spain and Costa Rica.
For the second time in a row, Germany starts its World Cup with a defeat.
