The Australians qualified Wednesday for the round of 16 of the World Cup Qatar 2022 thanks to their victory of one goal to zero over Denmark (1-0), at the Al Janoub Stadium, in group D on Wednesday. The Socceroos will face Argentina, first of group C, in the round of 16. On the other hand, the Scandinavians leave the competition by the small door, without any victory.

After a sterile first half where both teams went to the break with a blank score 0-0, Australia managed to make the difference in the second half to overcome the Danish team on the smallest of scores, thanks to a goal scored at the hour of play on a personal feat of the Melbourne City player Mathew Allan Leckie (60′,1-0) Denmark, semi-finalist of the last Euro, did not find a solution to qualify, despite a possession estimated at more than 60%, lost for a second time in a row in the group phase of the Qatari world. Graham Arnold’s men were able to hold on to the scoreline until the end and will play in the last 16 of a World Cup for the second time in their history.

After this exploit, Australia takes the second place of the group D with 6 points, behind France, first with 6 points for a better goal difference. Denmark is last with one point, behind Tunisia, 4 points.

France lost its last game against Tunisia.

With an eleven clearly reshuffled, France has failed to do the full in Group D, losing on the bare minimum against Tunisia (0-1) in its last game of the group stage of the Qatari World Cup 2022, played this Wednesday, November 30, 2022, at the Education City Stadium in Ar Rayyan. The plan B of Didier Deschamps failed against Tunisia which, despite this victory is eliminated.

Already qualified for the round of 16 of this World Cup Qatar, Les Bleus, with no less than 9 changes made in the starting team compared to the last game, have fallen in front of Tunisia for their third game of the group stage, on a goal scored shortly before the hour by the former Stephanois Wahbi Khazri, out on injury a few minutes later. With several changes by Didier Deschamps, France took control of the game and could have even found the equalizer if the VAR had not cancelled the goal of the newcomer Antoine Griezmann (98′). The match ended with the score of one goal to zero in favor of the African team.

Despite this defeat, the French are still leaders of Group D with 6 points, ahead of Australia (6 points) for a better goal difference. Tunisia, 3rd, is eliminated with 4 points. In the round of 16, the reigning world champion team will face Poland, second in Group C, for a place in the quarterfinals.
