The Haitian senior women’s soccer team was dominated by Costa Rica (2-1) in a friendly match of preparation played Saturday night at the Alejandro Morera Soto stadium in San Jose (Costa Rica), in view of the last phase of qualifying for the Women’s World Cup of Football, which will be held in Mexico from 4 to 18 July 2022.
For its first friendly match before starting the last phase of the qualifying for the World Cup Australia / New Zealand 2023 and the Olympic Games in Paris in 2024, the girls trained by the French technician Nicolas Delépine were defeated this Saturday in Costa Rican land against the local team (1-2). The Grenadiers were pushed around during the first part of the game and conceded two goals (8′, 45+2) respectively by María Paula Salas Zúñiga and María Paula Coto González.
The grenadiers were two goals down, but managed to reduce the score before the last quarter of the game by the former Nantes Sherly Jeudy on a penalty obtained by Melchie Daëlle Dumornay (74′, 1-2), without being able to find the equalizer goal. The scoreboard did not move during the remaining minutes and Costa Rica offered the scalp of Haiti (2-1). Claire Constant made her first start in central defense.
The Grenadiers will play their second test match against the same opponent on Tuesday, June 28, 2022, still in Costa Rican land on the field of Sports Complex Fedefutbol Plycem at noon, Haitian time (closed).
