In inaugural match in the CONCACAF Women’s Championship, the Haitian senior women’s soccer team missed completely its debut against the United States (0-3), Monday night, in Group A, in the final round of qualifying for the World Australia / New Zealand 2023 and the Olympic Games in Paris in 2024, at the Estadio Universitario de Monterrey (Mexico).
Almost non-existent at the beginning of the game, the Haitian selection of soccer folded easily in front of its American counterpart (0-3) in match of entrance of the last qualifying round for the world cup Australia/New Zealand 2023 and the Olympic Games of Paris 2024. The Grenadiers paid for their poor start to the game, conceding two goals in less than 25 minutes.
Alex Morgan opened the scoring in the 16th minute before she doubled the lead in the 23rd minute, scoring her 117th and 118th goals in 193 appearances for the Stars.
Wanting to react before the break, the Haitian girls ended up finding two key opportunities, the huge failure of Melchie Daëlle Dumornay in front of the American goalkeeper, after having eliminated the opponent’s defender (36′) then the penalty sent on the post by Roselord Borgella (42′). The Grenadiers returned to the locker room with two goals behind.
After the break, the four-time world champions continued to dominate the debate. And 6 minutes before the final whistle, Magareth Purce invited himself to the party by scoring the last goal of the game to bring the score to (3-0, 84′). The team coached by Nicolas Delépine will have to recover in their next outing in group A. In the other match of the group, Jamaica won 1-0 against the Mexican selection, host country of the tournament.
Next Thursday, July 7, Haiti will cross swords with Mexico at 10:00 pm to get back into the duel of the losers. The Americans will play against the Reggae Girls of Jamaica on the same day a little earlier at 7 pm.
